The 24th winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Thursday 27th April 1837 over the Ditch Mile, was Chapeau d'Espagne (2/5 fav), a bay filly by Doctor Syntax out of Chapeau De Paille, owned by Lord George Bentinck and John Barham Day, who won by an easy length. A field of 5 runners contested the race which was worth £1875 (Equivalent to £196,900 in 2017)
